Website redesign cost: what to scope before replacing your site

By the Digital XP team · Leeds, UK

A useful website redesign quote identifies what is being replaced, what must be preserved and how visitors will enquire or buy. Counting pages alone misses content work, integrations and the move from the old site.

Digital XP prices standalone website builds and redesigns against an agreed scope. When a redesign is purchased alongside one of our bespoke CRM builds, the website element is typically an additional £1,000–£2,000. That combined-project price is not a quote for a standalone site.

Start with what the current site already does

Bring the current website address, the main services you want enquiries for and a list of things that are difficult to use or maintain. If you have Search Console access, include the pages and searches bringing visitors. A page with useful search visibility should be reviewed before it is removed.

We also need to know where forms go, how bookings or payments work, which pages you edit and who controls the domain and hosting. These details determine the handover and launch work.

Ask for these items in the scope

Agree the deliverables before comparing prices. The same page count can hide very different amounts of work.

  • Named page types and who supplies or rewrites the content.
  • The enquiry, booking or payment journey, including what happens after submission.
  • Integrations with your CRM or other business tools.
  • Editable content, account access and training or handover.
  • An inventory of existing URLs and a redirect plan where addresses change.
  • Mobile, keyboard and form checks before launch.
  • Revision stages, launch responsibilities and ongoing costs.

Treat migration as part of the build

For Leeds and Wakefield Skip Hire, we rebuilt two WordPress and WooCommerce websites around a shared booking backend. The project included 39 local pages and 45 permanent redirects mapped against the previous URL inventory.

Those counts describe that project, not a recipe for every redesign. The point is to record what exists, decide what each useful old address should lead to and test the result before and after launch. Redirects cannot guarantee that rankings stay unchanged, but leaving the work out creates avoidable broken journeys.

When the website and CRM belong in one project

A combined build makes sense when the website should feed directly into how your team works. Agree which details the customer supplies, where the new enquiry appears, who follows it up and how its status changes.

Our full bespoke CRM builds typically cost £5,000–£8,000 with a 4–8 week turnaround depending on scale. A website redesign purchased alongside is typically an additional £1,000–£2,000. We confirm the scope and schedule for the combined project before work starts.

Three months of support and bug fixes are included. Hosting, maintenance and improvements after that run on an agreed monthly plan, with the ongoing costs set out in the proposal.

Send your current website and the main thing you need it to do better. You do not need a finished specification to start the conversation.
